When a dream becomes a thesis at Bocconi University
There are moments in an entrepreneur's life that go beyond professional achievements. One of these was seeing Elena, a young woman who experienced every dynamic of our company with enthusiasm and dedication, choose to tell our story in her thesis at Bocconi University.
And guess who her supervisor was? It was the professor who, back in 2009, made me fall in love with business economics, convincing me that Bocconi is not only a breeding ground for managers but also for the entrepreneurs of the future.
A Circle That Closes
In the months that Elena worked on her thesis, I entrusted her with reflections, projects, and dreams. With the same love she dedicated to our brand, Elena transformed those ideas into a paper that fully reflects the excellence and talent that define Bocconi University.
For me, this was much more than just an academic contribution. It was like closing a circle, one that began years ago in the classrooms of Via Sarfatti and culminated today with a recognition that made me relive the values and ambitions with which I started this entrepreneurial journey.
During the speech to the graduates, I found myself reflecting on the words spoken: giving meaning to our actions, being grateful, and ready to give with enthusiasm. Values that, unknowingly, I breathed in the hallways of what some call an "eyesore," but for me, it was the cradle of friendships and loves that last a lifetime.
The Crystal That Inspired Elena’s Thesis
Elena’s thesis focused on one of our most significant projects: the collaboration with Swarovski and the Re-created Crystals. These crystals, made by reusing production waste, embody the perfect blend of beauty and sustainability.
Among the leading colors of the project is Re-created Ice Blue, a color that, despite originating from a sustainable process, retains the brilliance and purity that Swarovski crystals are known for. This color inspired us to create an entire collection, designed for those who, like us, believe that luxury should never compromise respect for the planet.
